This is a puzzle - there are so many options:

perform an upgrade install
burn your data onto CD or floppy if it is small enough
partition your disk and move your data onto another partition

but what puzzles me is that if you have really no idea how to save
your data, are you sure your PC is up to running XP ?

Or are you buying a new PC with XP installed - this is really another
question.

maybe ask whoever either upgraded your hardware to cope with XP, or
who recommended you buy a new PC ?

So many questions - more info and perhaps we can help better

Good luck

Your question is too vague to provide a simple answer, although I did
try to I deleted my post on realising it would take several pages and
it still would not be a good enough answer.

I know, I know its explicit.

YOU should be more explicit.

Since only a loonie would think of installing XP on a Win95 machine, you
must have a new machine that is XP capable.

In this case, you might take the hard drive from your win95 machine and add
it as a slave drive to the new machine. You will need to change jumpers on
both HDs. Then you will have all your old files available on the new
machine. You can keep them on that old drive or copy all to the new drive
and discard the old drive - if it is small and slow.

There are better places for a discussion of this problem. I know there is a
ng called alt.os.windows2000 and there is probably a similar one for XP.

Have fun :-)
