Help needed with task manager

When I click on my task manager or msconfig, it comes up but instantly closes out before I can use either one. I have run virus checks, online and with the new Norton with updates, and it is definitely not a virus. I cannot figure out what is wrong.

Perhaps your virus scanner definitions are out of date...

W32.spybot worm disables NAV, Msconfig, Regedit and Task Manager:

The same symptom is caused due to Klez, Yaha Viruses. It is advisable to run
a full system scan. Be sure you update the anti-virus software definitions.
