Here you go:

What do you mean by no security updates? There are plenty of updates
already available. Was there something specific you wanted?

You can pull all that music into the library from within WMP11.

it was mainly security updates, the basic windows xp o.s always had updates
and i was wondering if there was something wrong with my instalation.

First Windows Media Player.
click on Library. The Window that pops up, Click My Folders & thoes of
others that I can access, also click "Advance Options" this will allow you to
add folders anywhere on your system or network

Second Norton. Skip it, it has been bloat where for the last few years (My
personal oppenion), just get AVG.

Third. DVD Software, I've not used any but hear good things about Nero.

for the DJ Software I've heard that PCDJ works well with vista

RUN - Don't walk from Norton. Norton is bloatware, slows your computer
down, is almost impossible to uninstall later, causes major problems with
other programs. Try AVG Free or Avast. You will sleep better at night.

Which is probably why your computer is still working.
