HELP NEEDED THANKS!

My computer is getting me down. I have since changed the power supply the
memory and I still have this problem. The power light is on, and my fan is
working fine. It just won't boot up. I don't even get the post screen. Just
a complete black screen. Its like I haven't even turned the computer on. I
have also replaced data cable. What is my problem?

What motherboard and processor? I just finished replacing a motherboard
that failed with this exact set of symptoms. Two possibilities remain for
mine. I thought all along the Northbridge had failed, but I now believe the
problem is a capacitor next to the BIOS chip, which has a suspicious little
pimple-like bulge.

My motherboard was an Abit IS-7, considered a pretty good board two years
ago, but it's history now, and the computer is running great with an ASUS
P4P800-MV board. Both of these are out of production and we had to do a
little shopping to find one to suit the processor.

I replaced only the motherboard; the data cables, CPU and fan, drives, and
PSU are all the same.

My computer is getting me down.

You should tell us about it. Major parts, makes, models,
etc.

I have since changed the power supply

You should tell us about it, make, model, wattge, etc.

Try clearing the CMOS
Check the battery
Tell us the details about this system.
Check the motherboard for failed capacitors, visually.
Try another video card if you have a spare.
Disconnect all parts nonessential to post - leave video,
CPU, 1 memory module and CPU heatsink/fan.

If all else fails and you are sure the power supply is a
good name-brand of ample capacity, it's probably the
motherboard... but inspect all internal
cables/plugs/cards/memory/etc again.

As Kony says - reset the bios and try to boot up. If you replaced a PSU that
died you should bear in mind that when a PSU dies it can sometimes damage
other componenets at the same time - motherboard and memory especially.
