help needed - setting up a home network

Hi, I am having awful trouble setting up a home network, we recently
got a BT Internet home hub, and have a desktop and a wireless laptop
which are both able to connect to the Internet just fine through the
hub ( the desktop is using an Ethernet cable to the hub). However I
cannot seem to network the computers together in order to share files
and printers which is really what I need, I have tried using the
windows wizard but to no avail, I either assume I am doing it wrong or
I need to set up the network through BT software possibly I must admit
i'm rather unsure, any help would be much appreciated. Many thanks.
