Hi, I'm builing a Pc for a mate. they dont do much except internet and word processing.

Now I have a mobo at home that will encorperate a sempron chip.
I'm gonna get them a cheap sempron 2600+ chip to go with the mobo, however my problem is that as I'm trying to save them money I have 512mb of PC2100 ram sitting at home doing nothing as well as the mobo.

will this work with the chip or will I have to get them new ram also?

Hiya m8, yeah it will work without a problem. Your best bet is to get a mobo that will last a little bit longer in terms of upgrading really. They may if they want to upgrade it without much of a hassle.

Below is a link for a mobo from Asus that will allow future upgrades for a while. It is very cheap to, altho not the cheapest there at the moment.

hi mate thanks for the reply, Bargain thats saved them a few quid for ram and more squids in my pocket! :) They're not too bothered about upgrading in the future just something she can do a course on.

Hi again the board I posted was taking into account that they did have an AGP GFX card.
You need to check this at first!!

If they still have PCI then they will need a new GFX card for many new boards aswell.
