Edward

I keep getting this blue screen message after upgrading my laptop from Win98
to W2K.

STOP 0X000000A (0XEE3FCE23, )X000000FF, 0X00000001, 0x8006960E)
Address 8006960E base at 80062000 DateStamp 3e25b985 - hal.dll

W2K will load up but for no apparent reason or specific event will just
crash.

I checked all the drivers which seems to be working.

Anyone has suggestion what I need to do OR can suggest the MS KB that will
help me.

Many Thanks

Hardware Abstraction Layer DLL ( HAL.dll )
this tells windows about your hardware,
open a cmd window ( winkey + r ) type sfc /scannow, then return.
you will get asked for the windows 2000 ( SP also ) CD, so get it ready.
this will scan your system files & some outher stuff windows needs.
should this fail, come back & post your out come,,,,,
