I need help repairing my Windows 98 as a result of damage by viruses.

1. I just tried to see a photo from a CD using C:/Programs/Imaging, and it
did not work.

2. I Tried to delete Imaging, then restarted the computer and as result
lost Imaging.

3. Tried to reload Imaging from a Recovery CD and also from a Windows 98
CD without success.

4. Tried to start recovery CD, received message Please call Technical
Support.

5. Discovered viruses using an anti virus program.

6. Removed these viruses using the Symantec virus removal tools.

The computer so far works, but a lot of programs from directory
C:/Programs/Accessories don't.

I would appreciate very much any suggestions

What virus damage.
1. I just tried to see a photo from a CD using C:/Programs/Imaging, and it

The "Programs" directory doesn't even exist on my 98 machine. Did you get an error message like "invalid file header"
or some other? Is this "Kodak Imager" (Imaging for Windows ®) in the windows directory?
2. I Tried to delete Imaging, then restarted the computer and as result
lost Imaging.

You expected any less? Maybe SFC can extract it from the CAB files. If we are talking about the same program
(here it was c:\windows\kodakimg.exe) so Start, run, sfc, extract one file from installation disk...
3. Tried to reload Imaging from a Recovery CD and also from a Windows 98
CD without success.

Did you look in the .cab files with an extraction utility (DOS' "extract.exe" or Windows' SFC (System File Checker)?
4. Tried to start recovery CD, received message Please call Technical
Support.

....and did you?
5. Discovered viruses using an anti virus program.
???

6. Removed these viruses using the Symantec virus removal tools.
???

The computer so far works, but a lot of programs from directory
C:/Programs/Accessories don't.

SFC can find and replace some corrupted Windows system files and some bundled apps too.
I would appreciate very much any suggestions

I suggest you provide the malware name if you expect specific help from the locals, and the recovery CD thing
is probably in the realm of the computer manufacturer's support department.
