help needed in ie

i am using win98 with ie6. after installing ie6, i am
encountering a peculiar problem. when ever i try to open a
link in new window , the window opens up and go blank(back
ground transpernt). i have to press stop and agian refersh
it to get it correctly. can anybody help me? iam using
p41.8ghz intel system with 256 ram.
