Uncle Vinnie

I applied the 'fix' to Outlook 2000, as discussed below. Now, oddly, when
away from the computer for a while, I have the start-up screen showing,
asking for my password.. then I'm back to where I was, with the original
programs still running as they were... I would liek the screen to go blank,
as before, when away for 20 minutes..

Since I did 3 things today, could it be this fix, or the 'Net' update to XP,
or the 'Messenger' update? Gotta be one of the three... the 2 XP ones
mentioned are recent, perhaps today, to the Windows update site.. help?
Thank you!

Have you tried going to Display Properties (in Windows) and making sure
there is no password protection set on the screen saver? I have no idea why
any of the updates you did would cause the password box to be checked, but
it sounds like that's what happened somehow.

Thanks Jocelyn... I double checked.. no screen saver, btw... the only
'prompt' would be from hibernation, something I rarely use (trouble
re-connecting to HP all-in-one)...

Odd, isn't it?

I'll keep looking.. if anything comes to mind, let me know.. how about that
'net' update?? I think it's a networking fix, but I'm not sure... (many
times, I install recomended updates, as prescribed by XP, not knowing fully
what they are...)

I haven't heard any buzz about this issue arising from any recent updates,
but if an update did break something, I'm sure we'll start seeing more
people posting about it in these newsgroups. In the meantime, have you
tried removing the fix for the Customize Outlook Today issue, to see if the
new problem goes away?
