Hi

I have a small lab at home with a Win2k server and three workstation,
I will be using NAT on my server with a 56k modem for my Internet
connection.

I would like some advice on choosing a domain name.

Q) If I choose something like "space.org" or "space.com" and this name
is already taken will there be any issues when I am connected to the
Internet?

Q) Why when choosing a domain name do I have to add a org or com
extension and can't simple choose a name like "space"?

Q) At work we have a registered domain name "best.org.au" now if I use
this as the internal domain name at one office, then use this as the
internal domain name at one of our other offices that aren't connected
to each other but both have their own separate Internet connections
what would this do?

Q) is the internal domain name irelevant when behing NAT or a
firewall?

Any info or helpfull advice would be appreciated.

Only if you publish your domain name to the internet. If it's just a dial-up
you shouldn't get into any problems, but I don't recommend to use a already
taken name.

Because it's DNS.

As long as they aren't connected your fine, but I wouldn't recommend it.
