HELP! I installed the service pack for windows XP some
time ago. Today I ran a system recovery, only to find out
that I forgot to install the service pack recovery fix
before doing so. Now, when I start my computer I get a
new user sign up (set time zone, name the computer, etc.)
At the end of this I have an option to click finished.
When I do that NOTHING happens. Windows will not boot up
at all. It just stays on that screen 4ever.

ANY SUGGESTIONS?? Is there a way to install the service
pack recovery disk without windows? Is there another way
around this problem?

Any suggestions would be sooooo appreciated!
Thanks in advance!

Hi Sherri,

You might be able to recover if your recovery disks provide for a
non-destructive reinstallation. If not, then you will have to do it the hard
way. Check your product manual for the proper means of employing the system
recovery software. Either way, now that you have tried using SR without the
patch, a reinstall, non-destructive or otherwise, will be necessary.

Follow the link in this article to get the patch for future use:

a System Recovery Operation
