Hi,

On Windows 2000, we use local users (= Novell users on the enterprise
network) and for a lot of computers, they are the same than hostname.

We can't define on XP stations a local user called like hostname !!!

Perhaps it is possible to change a security option ???

Or do we aboslutely need to change hostname (because we can't change
users Novell) ??

In fact, I would prefer to keep username = hostname but XP is really
too secured for us !!!

Thanks for your answers

Best regards

I'm not to sure what you want here. Can you explain a bit better.

XP Secure now that's funny. Glad to see you have a sense of humour. Oh,
and before anyone thinks this is flame bait then read a few posts here.

The OP wants to know if they can have the hostname(computername, NETBIOS
name..) the same as the USERNAME for that PC. Essentially the answer would
be no. Plus, other than technically, I think it could be confusing
otherwise. heh

No one has accused this of being flame-bait. I'm still waiting for the
"secure OS" -> especially when there are normal (non-tech) people involved
in everyday use of the systems...
