Can I first install Windows Me and then deinstall Windows 2000 ?

I don't have time right now to wipe my hard drive and start over.

Windows 2000 has given me so much trouble I'm giving up and
going back to Windows Me. I'm just a single home user so I
don't need all that Win 2000 has, just want to learn it.

Windows 2000 is SOooooo much better than WinME. Much more stable. If you
are having problems you may have incompatible hardware and software and
really should have researched before installing it. I've used it for years
with never a problem. It is the best OS of them all. Please learn how to
use it and rethink your decision.

Thanks for the help.......I inherited Win 2000 on an older laptop my
son-in-law gave me from his work. It's set up for a network versus
a single user which probably causes some of my frustration and
yes the incompatibility of software is sometime a problem but I
can't afford to upgrade so I limp along. Then when I did my
update all H--l broke loose and my Outlook Express along with
other programs are giving me fits. So for now I'll go back to
Windows Me and when I can reformat the hard drive re-install
it again as a single user and give it another try.
Thanks again to both of you for your thoughts and help.

boot from a dos floppy and run install from there or boot
from CD and run from there

format HD for a good install

I guess you're right. However, I can't even install Windows 98. So I
tried to reformat the C drive and that didn't work either. It looks
like their isn't a dos base to Win2000. Any suggestions where I can
go for specific instructions on how to Deinstall Win2000, reformat the
C drive and last install Win 98 as my new OS....TNX in advance for the
help. Wonder why PcTechnician wrote this help article if it doesn't
work?

Well I've really got it messed up now. I couldn't figure
out how to reformat my HD w/Win 2000 loaded.
Wouldn't let me do it so I tried re-installed Win 2000
and now I have "2" Win 2000's on my PC so.........
Could you please give me instructions on how to
reformat my HD so I can start over with a fresh
install.........TNX

Mary, do you use Win2000 as a single user or part of
a group? Mine is setup for corp network use as this
laptop was given to me by my son-in-law. I'm just
a single user or for family members who I would like
to have their own sign in's. But I'm not networked, etc.
So I don't know if these things are causing all the
problems or not. Seems everytime I do an "Update"
all heck breaks loose and usually at a time when I really
need access to my PC. Any hints would be appreciated.
