Hello,

My company hosts their own name servers. The secondary
name server is reported as timing out on dnsreport.com.
I don't know why it keeps doing this. Port 53 is open on
both the firewall and server. Any ideas of what to look
for? Please help me!!!

Did you forward incoming connections to the DNS server?

I also forgot to mention that its the secondary name
server - the primary name server is behind the same
firewall - the only difference is that it is Windows
2003, but the primary dns responds just fine.

Thanks,
Nadya

Either disable EDNS0 on the Win2003 machine or find out if you can upgrade
your router to support it:

828731 - An External DNS Query May Cause an Error Message in Windows Server
2003:
http://support.microsoft.com/?id=828731

828263 - DNS query responses do not travel through a firewall in Windows
Server 2003:

Hmm, I take it you forgot to forward port 53 from the router to the DNS
server IP?
