I have them on the same workgroup and when I can access both XP pc's (which
have passwords) BUT the XP PC's cannot access my Vista PC which DOES NOT have
a password!!

When I try to connect my XPMCE laptop OR my XP Pro SP2 desktop to my Vista
PC it demands a password WICH I DO NO HAVE AND DID NOT SET when I installed
Vista.

This worked on this same network before but I did a reinstall to install
soem new drivers for my hardware and NOW it says I have a password when I
clearly do not!!

This is really pissing me off , PLEASE anyone PLEASE help me , I need to
print from all PC's.

Thank you in advance if you can help.

nevermind.....I figured it out , LOL!! NEVER reinstall an OS on 3 hours sleep
in 2 days.....

carry on!! :)

Rob I hope you can help me. My Vista laptop will not commucate with my
Printer on the xp desktop.. have a linksys wireless router

Actually i had just the opposite problem , it seems Vista has an option for
pass-wording file sharing even though you don't have a password , after I
shut that darn thing off I can see all my files and printers.

Your problem sounds like you may have to run the "set up a home network
wizard" again (or if you haven't already) program from your XP pc , that way
it should set up your firewall and stuff for sharing with your Vista rig.
Your router should be fine.

Just curious , can you see the internet through your router with your Vista
rig?

Have you made sure they are in the same network/workgroup?

If so the last thing I would try is re checking the Printer and File sharing
on both and shut down the firewalls and try again , other than that I have no
idea , Vista should be able to see your XP rig with no problems.

Sorry I couldn't be of more help.
