so how was the connection able to work b4?

did Robert's suggestion work? If you plug your router in can your wireless
laptop still connect when Vista can't? Can you ping the router from Vista?
At work we recently had a machine that would loop between connecting and
disconnecting and that turned out to be a faulty RJ45. Have you checked
yours?

If you're using DHCP on the router are you able to renew the IP?

If you are on DHCP from a command prompt with admin rights type:

ipconfig /release

wait for the change to come back as 0.0.0.0. before typing:

ipconfig /renew

that should get a new (or the same) IP from the router with a new lease. If
not that's the problem then Robert's suggestion is the way to go.
