help my main cd rom doesn't show up

All of a sudden my HP DVD/CD Rom doesn't show up in my computer, how can I
get it to show again? In my bios it says I have one but in my computer it's
not listed.

Hi!

Yes, my support client do have exactly the same problem on her Acer laptop
with all updated WinXP Home SP2, i.e. DVD/CD device not shown on My Computer,
but present on BIOS and working well with a bootable non-Win CD.

Any hints to get the device visible on WinXP?
