Oh no,

All those navads I downloaded, all the great games, my emails on
outlook, my video clips and pictures

(I have taken the hard out and tried it else where and it still does
not respond!) the hard started making scratching noises. Does anyone
know if my hard is not responding and it's not booting if there is
anyway to still pull the data out?

where do I find a new hard for toshiba laptop? does it have to be
toshiba hard? anygood place to look for them and anything to keep in
mind while buying it?

The scratching noise you heard was a head crash. Your only hope of recovering anything is a data recovery service.

Buy and fit a new 2.5" HDD then dig out your back up and reinstall it.

Not necessarily with a laptop drive, they can sound like
that when recalibrating and a logic card swap can fix that.

Not necessarily.

depends whether you made backup(s) or not

Sometimes yes, sometimes no. PCs with various problems will boot into
DOS of freedos. If the hdd works it can be copied on a desktop machine.

no

would be a god idea to find out whether the prob is the hdd first. Boot
laptop up into Dos and see if it sees a hdd. If it doesnt, C: will be a
ramdrive.

If it is the hdd you need the right size one, right diameter and right
height.
