HELP!!! My husband is at home going nuts over boot up problem

My son was playing one of the Robots games this morning and when my husband
went to use the computer he had problems getting rid of the game. Whenever
this happens he just shuts the computer off - he's a little impatient.

Anyway, the computer was working fine last night. We have all the latest
virus patches and all of that so I'm not convinced this was a virus. But when
he turns the computer back on he gets an error message stating something like
"Previous operation interrupted ... blah blah ... please hit F8 and Save to
last operable save date" or something to that effect.

Only when he clicks on F8, nothing happens.

Are there any suggestions for getting us back up and running?

If you can get into Safe Mode you can use System Restore to go back to a
point where the machine was operating properly. The next thing you need to
do is tell your husband to use the proper Windows shut down procedures.
Continuing to just shut the machine off will eventually cause some serious
problems.
