I am sharing a T1 with other workgroups, my access to the
T1 is pluged into its own Dlink Hub.

There are 4-XP's. 1-Win 2000, 1-W98. All are set up to
Workgroup = WORKGROUP, All computers CAN ping each other,
all see themselves on the network, 2 see all the
computers but one, but can access none of the shared
network devices (shared diskdrives and printers, when
doing a search for a computer it usually comes up with
nothing, and if it does see a computer it does not seem
to be able to access it... very occaionally one computer
will acess another computer, when nothing is changed, all
passwords are null, ocassionaly it will say "see your
administrator for authority to access (there is NO
administrator)

I DO need to access some of the shared network devices,
am running basically the same network at home w/out a
problem.(I have tested the cableing and Router/hub, they
ALL attach instantly to the internet..)there is no
firewall blocking access to the computers seeing each
other.
..
Any Ideas???

(I see this problem alot on the message boards w/out much
resolution...

Sounds like a Netbios issue to me.

Computers find each other using nbt (netbios over TCP/IP), which is easy on
the same segment, but doesn't work over dispirate segments in a network
(through a router). You have two options here, set up a WINS server or set
up all the machines with static ip addresses and create an LMHOSTS file on
each of the computers. An LMHOSTS file is simply a list of all the computer
names and ip addresses. You should include all machines that you want to
access including printers and shared disk drives arrays as well if they have
separate IP addresses. lmhosts in the windows directory under
\system32\drivers\etc. There's a sample file there called lmhosts.sam. Use
that as a guide, then call the final file "lmhosts" without a file
extension. Copy the file to all the computers then reboot them, and all
should be fine. Let me know if that does the trick for you.
