Help Mouse Pointer

From time to time my mouse pointer will disappear.

The scenario is this: While using my computer Windows XP Pro all latest
service packs and updates. I notice that my mouse pointer seems to get stuck
on some windows form. I seem to still have mouse functions but the mouse
curser is just stuck, fixed in one spot.

I look in my event log and find nothing giving details on why this is
happening.

Right now my only solution to this issue is to reboot my system, as logging
off and then back on does not correct the problem.

Can anyone help me please, as this is very frustrating?

Thanks

We will need more details, like:

1) Make/model of mouse.

2) Wired or wireless type

3) Which drivers (standard Windows or enhanced by manufacturer?)

1) Make/model of mouse.
A. Microsoft Mouse (Wheel Mouse Optical 1.1A USB abd PS/2 Compatible)
2) Wired or wireless type
A. Wired Mouse using USB... and yes i have tryed changing usb ports.
3) Which drivers (standard Windows or enhanced by manufacturer?)
A. Using standard Windows Drivers.

Note: The mouse do not stop working... I loose the pointer it just gets
stuck on my screen and moves no place although I can still select objects on
my screen, I have no mouse pointer.

Have you tried using it as a PS/2 mouse with the green adapter. Trying that
might help pinpointing mouse or USB problem

I am having the exact same issue with my mouse. I have a Microsoft
intellimouse explorer 4.0. I've tried both USB and PS/2. I've even tried
different mice. After a while, the mouse pointer just quits working. The
mouse functions fine, if I can guess where the invisible mouse pointer is, I
can click on objects and interact with the desktop... it's just that the
mouse pointer stays stationary. I've tried many things, with no success.

I found the issue.
I don't know why its this but it is.
Hardware acieration. I took it down about to notches and it corrected the
issue.
This issue only started happing after the latest drivers and windows
updates.
I am not in the mood, nor do I have the time to go back and test what update
broke my mouse.

I do know this much its the hardware acieration for video that is doing it.

Are you talking about the hardware acceleration in the display properties?
Or the mouse acceleration? I'll try that when I get home tonight.
