Vista is not booting up past the Sign In/Welcome screen. It lets me type in
my password and then just hangs with the perpetually spinning busy-circle.
I've tried booting in safe mode and it goes through the scrolling of loading
files and always gets stuck on the crcdisk.sys file.
Upon searching here and elsewhere I see many questions about this, but none
of the very few posted "fixes" has worked for me.
This is new Gateway system which came with Vista Ultimate pre-installed. The
system had been working great until I decided I wanted to add a Lightscribe
capable DVD/CD writer = Samsung SH-S183L SATA model. My 1st thougth was to
just pull the drive out of the sytem, but even upon removing the drive the
system still will not boot.
I have sent this same question to Gateway and Samsung with no reply yet so
any help from here will be GREATLY appreciated.
