Out of the blue, the computer won't start windows now. I get the message on
black screen "missing or corrupt
System32\Drivers\Ntfs.sys and a message saying to try to use recovery
console. Which I try to, using setup disk.
After I type 1 and enter (the listed operating system) nothing happens. I
try to go through the motions of reinstallaing windows after using setup
disks. It ask for windows cd, then at the point where it's checking for
previous versions of windows, it stops responding. I should mention that it
is a sata raid0 configuration with onboard promise raid controller. In the
bios, in the fastbuild utilty, it shows the array as functioning. I took
each hard drive seperately and connected to non-raid sata connection and
went through the motions of setup and it appeared it would allow a windows
install on each one.I don't know if this rules out a harddrive problem or
not. could it be a raid controller malfunction? I don't think a virus
problem because of recent scan.
Any help or ideas would be appreciated

I have had the same problem...twice! I eventually had to wipe everything out and start fresh but that still hasn't been perfect.I have noticed many "disc" errors in my event viewer.I feel my harddrive is toast. Pretty sad being 5 months old!
