Please help!
Since recently running LiveUpdate on my XP laptop with Norton AV and
INternet Security, I am finding that whenever I elect to disable
auto-protect (so I can defrag the hard drives or play games) I
CONSTANTLY get a warning meesage - once I clear the warning, a few
seconds it comes back again (the warning message states that
auto-protect is turned off). Before I recently used liveupdate, I used
to get the warning message ONCE after turning autoprotect off, but now
I keep getting it even when I have cleared it - aaaaaaaaagh!

OK Marco

This is probably a result of Norton Upgrades causing havoc in a
perfectly good system which is why I have ditched Norton.

Quick and dirty fix is as follows (probably)

Download Spybot S&D v1.3 (if you have not already got it).

http://www.safer-networking.org/en/index.html

Start Spybot, select mode > advanced and click on tools in the sidebar
then select "system startup".

uncheck the box - ccApp

Restart the pooter.

This will prevent autoprotect loading in the first place so you should
not have any warnings (in theory I have not tried it I don't have
Norton any more) so you can play games & defrag etc

Don't forget to re-enable ccApp before restaring your laptop again
else you will have no AV protection running.
