MSN 6.1 has non-arguably superseded Windows messenger.
Whenever I go to long on it logs onto Windows Messenger
first then I have to manually sign into MSN. This routine
is getting very old and I am certainly over it! If any
one knows how to get rid of it tell me!
PS. Microsoft, get your act together and update Windows
Messenger!

There are actually two (2) different "Messengers" and they function
differently:

How are MSN Messenger and Windows Messenger different?

You can easily uninstall "MSN MESSENGER" via the Add/Remove Programs
applet in your Control Panel.

Or you can disable "Windows Messenger":

Open "Windows Messenger" and from the Toolbar select
Tools > Options > Preferences and uncheck:

"Run this program when Windows starts" and
"Allow this program to run in the background", then
click OK.
