Hey guys, I have about £100 to spend on a monitor but the problem is I really don't know what to look for when buying one.

I am going CRT because they are cheaper and I'd like at least a 17" one, preferably "19.

I'll be playing lots and lots of games so it should be a good monitor for games.

What should I be looking out for?

I've been looking at these two on Ebay, what do you guys think?

(I'm close to Loughborough so I can collect, but it depends what price it bumps up to closer to the deadline)

(Says he'll knock the postage down to £10 to anyone that uses the 'Buy it Now' feature.

What are your opinions on the two monitors?

Any tips, advise or recommendations would be greatly appreciated.

I recommend going for at least a 19. But hey thats just my opinion ;)

You can get any good branded 19" CRT for under £100 ... just make sure it has a 3year On Site Warrantee.

I wouldn't touch eBay for something like that ... hell, I'd even go to PCWorld first. ;)

Thoughts?

This is for that 21" monitor by the way..

Erm 21" crt = Half a metre deep. I had a mate with a 19" that was similar and it really did take up his house. If i was you id buy a cheaper 19" TFT. Get something with a low responce time (8 or under) and it will probabally be about an extra £50. For the difference in appearence, i think it would be a much better choice.

If you only have £100 either save up or drop it down to a 17" and im sure you;ll get one around the £110 mark if you shop about.

This is the bit to look at ...

Dot Pitch / Pixel Pitch 0.25 mm
Max Resolution 2048 x 1536 / 80 Hz
Max Sync Rate (V x H) 160 Hz x 130 kHz
Factory Preset Resolution Modes 1600 x 1200 / 85 Hz
720 x 400 / 70 Hz
Fine and dandy for me ... if under a oner, I'll have one as well. :thumb:

You'll never know the answer unless you ask - speak up or its going down the tip.....:D

I was just wondering if there was a possibility you could get it to me..

Obviously I'd cross your palm with gold.

Well postage is gonna be too high - and I ain't gonna be anywhere near Leicestershire anytime soon I'm afraid.

The only thing I can suggest is you find out how much it will cost to courier it to you.

According to the specs it weighs 26Kg (29kg inc. the packaging which I dont have!!)

Alright dude, I'll do that.

In the meantime do you have MSN or an e-mail perhaps I could have please?

We don't put email addys etc on here due to privacy and 'spam harvesters' - just come back here when your ready...:thumb:

I have a 19 inch crt. Huge. weighs a tonne. Good though. I would aim for a refresh rate of at leats 120hz at resolution of 1024x768. anything less, forget it.
