Haven't gotten anywhere with HP.

So, I am wondering if this may be a OS/kernel level thing in XP.

IE. those "QuickLaunch" type buttons often found on laptops - ones
that control sound, monitor switching, and (the most unfortunately of
them all) - wireless on/off.

In an enterprise wireless environment, having the user be able to turn
this on/off, because they are curious or clumsy, is a big problem. I'm
trying to disable these things.

I can not load "QuickLaunch" at startup. I've in fact disabled all
drivers loaded at startup that I can find (msconfig / startup / disable
all) - to no avail.

One an older laptop hardware standard we had - I was in fact able to do
this - I believe it was in the BIOS. Not with this one - HP nx6125.

Does anyone know what process/driver monitors this interrupt? Is there
anything I can disable in the registry to prevent this from happening?
I want the wireless to always be ON, just not being able to be toggled
via this button! Nothing in device drivers either that I can see.

Don't know if this is the right forum or not - if not, sorry.

IMHO a very questionable idea. User always must be able to switch wi-fi off.

Maybe and maybe not. These buttons are proprietary, so talking
to the laptop maker may be the only way to get your questions
answered. Note: HP is not the real manufacturer... they are somewhere in
Taiwan (-_-)

Curiosity is just natural; satisfy it by providing laptop training to the
users.
( the company where I work does this very well so I know how this can be done)
But with clumsy folks IMHO there's no solution; try to keep them away of
computers and other fragile stuff.
