We are having a problem with our services (mainly SQL server) in that they loose/forget their passwords. So, even though the service is set to start automatically, it can't do to a logon failure. We must type over the password and then are able to start the service. This is happening on multiple configurations

Windows 2000 Advanced, SP2 & 3, SQL Server 200
Windows 2000 Standard, SP4, SQL Server 200

SQL Server 2000 is at SP3 with all the latest patches and fixes

Any help would be greatly appreciated

Are you using a domain account or local account for the service? Would
recommend creating a new domain account for the SQL services.

I have seen this happen if there's a conflict between the Local Security
Policy & a Domain Policy. I'd start there
