Hi

Wonder if someone can help me. Just upgarded our IBM X232
stand alone server from Nt 4.0 ro W2K. Upgrade seemed to
work fine until final reboot. Keyboard and mouse appear
not to be working and I can't log on to the server!! I've
checked the event log and there is an event id 4 "Unable
to create the symbolic link for \Device\Serial1. Device
manager shows Standard 101/102 keyboard and PS/2 comptable
mouse - both unable to start (error code 10). Ports show
TWO Com2 ports only. Anyone any ideas what I should
do??? I can't log on to the server to administer the
devices. Is there a way of forcing a log on via command
line or via Active Directory. Please help!

I have win2k pro. Running just fine then poof! Started pc one morning and
no ps/2 mouse or ps/2 keyboard. Grabbed a usb mouse from a Mac G4,
rebooted, started pcanywhere with the mouse, backed up, played all day
trying to figure out what the hell happened. Ended up formatting and
reinstall / restore. Try a usb mouse/keyboard.
Just realized the post was from 2/20/2004. I think this is a bit late.
Anyone seen this before
