Can anyone suggest anything? My junk mail filter isnt working at all

Ive got the damn filter set to "high" and I'm still getting reams and reams of junk - obvious things like "Girls, girls, girls..." And Ive got it set to "hide graphics", but my mail still opens with pictures of large gazoongas. On top of that, even the rules Ive set up manually dont work. People I put on the blocked list still get through

I'm using a POP3/SMTP system. I have my options set to "keep a copy on the server" as I read my mail from home and from work and often need a copy in both places and I just switched from the previous version of Outlook Express to the full Outlook 2003. I should also say that the filter worked for two days then it suddenly stopped working. I dont remember doing anything to turn it off.

Does anyone know what the problem could be

Thanks
Drowning in Viagra Ads....

Hello,
The junk email filter is set up to control email 'from
someone'. This works great if you can count on the return
address being accurate. Unfortunately, adhacks have
figured out a way to send false return addresses so that
they can randomly send you the same message everyday but
from a different address. Until the net has the ability
to prevent faked return addresses, the 'junk' email
setting is of limited value.

However, Using the 'Organize' feature of Outlook and
keywords common to messages you want to trash, you can
intercept most of the ad garbage. I say 'most' as
the 'adhacks' are getting better at crafting their email
to bypass even the 'keyword' Outlook filters.

How do they do it? The latest for which I don't have a
current answer is to use HTML coding to thwart the
filters. For example: I just received an HTML (web) email
that shows viagra, valium, etc. clearly in the ad, but my
filter ignores it.
How come? When viewing the source code, I discover
that 'Viagra' is actually coded as
V<gggksksksl>I<ka;skfdj...etc>'. The Web browser ignores
anything between the <> but Outlook doesn't. The browser
sees 'Viagra' but the filter sees the garbage characters
and since V<garbage>I<garbage>... is not Viagra, the
filter ignores it.

I have posted a request for help on this and hopefully,
someone more knowledgeable than I has an answer.

As an aside, you can tell by the quality of the companies
using this tactic that the legitmate organizations have
hopefully made the 'amazing' discovery that you don't sell
people stuff by making them mad.

Hope this helps.
