Laura

I use hotmail for my primary email service. However, I
also have an earthlink account and now, Outlook Express.
I am in the process of cancelling my Earthlink Internet
Service because I've moved to an area that it doesn't
service. I now use Outlook Express because I think it
came with Internet Explorer and my new Internet Service.

Meanwhile, I now have MSN Messenger and Windows Messenger
icons to access my hotmail account, but most of the time
that I log on to the Internet, when I use either of the
icons, the message reads: Page Cannot be Displayed".

I've checked my browser settings, but I don't know how to
change anything or if anything needs to be changed. I
never had this problem when I only used Earthlink and
when I only had one messenger choice.

Should I get rid of one of the Messengers....are they
conflicting with each other so I can't access Hotmail at
all? Thanks!

Greetings Laura,

The only time you'll actually see a conflict between the two is when they both try to sign in
at the same time -- they won't affect Hotmail.

Although there are a few settings you can check (below), I assume you can actually log into
MSN Messenger or Windows Messenger which is a bit odd (since they're actually all linked to
the same systems and most problems affect all of them).

Regardless, here are a few suggestion that may assist:
1. The date on your computer needs to be set properly -- double click the clock verify that
the time and date are set.
2. Clear your IE cache and cookies -- open Internet Explorer, click the Tools menu, then
Internet Options, then click the Delete Files button, and when that's complete click the
Delete Cookies button.
3. Check your IE Security settings -- open Internet Explorer, click the Tools menu, then
Internet Options, then Advanced tab, scroll to the Security section, and verify that "Check
for server certificate revocation" is unchecked. Also verify that 'Use SSL 2.0' and Use SSL
3.0' is checked, then click OK.
4. Click Start, then Run, and enter the following:
regsvr32 softpub.dll
then click OK

Thanks Jonathan! I don't know if it'll help, but I
followed your instructions and now I'm going to restart
my computer and see what happens. I may get back to you
for more suggestions if it still comes up that the page
cannot be found.
