Using one of my several LAN computers (Windows XP Pro) I accessed a web site
called www.crack.am. Since doing that, my Windows Internet Explorer will not
longer access the Internet. It says "can't find server" regardless of what
web site I try. All other computers work fine.

I do however still have access to the Internet - I can access Windows
Update, download virus updates from Norton, etc. I just can't use the
browser.

I've run both the Norton Virus checker as well as SpyBot. Appreciate any and
all suggestions. I've also uninstalled and reinstalled the Internet
Explorer.

Appreciate any help or suggestions very much.

Jim -

I had a similar incident happen to me -- I run Win98SE
with IE6. Go to Microsoft's site and download the Windows
Scripts file, it should be named "scr56en.exe". Save this
somewhere on your hard drive where you can access it
later. Exit the internet and all applications. Click on
start, run, browse, then find the location of that file
and click it so as to place it in the run window. Click OK
to run that program. Follow all the prompts. This should
install windows scripting to your system. After it is
complete, try the internet again with IE6. If it works,
that was the problem. If it does, keep that downloaded
file handy for future problems. I've had to re-install
mine more than once.

Good Luck,
Don

Don,

I found this file on the Microsoft's web site but it doesn't appear that it
will work on Windows XP. I'm not sure if I want to try it yet.

Thanks.
