Hi,
When I was updating my second video card's drivers, this
problem appeared:
If I upgrade the drivers by pressing right button >>>
install on .INF file, it installs something and tells
me "Installation Failed" and asks me to reboot. When I
reboot and go to the device manager, my video card shows
an error and is disabled.
If I upgrade the drivers from windows device manager, I
get "File not found" error at the end of installation. The
result is the same after reboot.
I'm using Win2k Server, and this error has nothing to do
with the drivers I was installing because I used them
without any problems before. I also uninstalled the
previous drivers before upgrading.
Does anyone know why this happens? Is there a solution for
this problem without reinstalling Windows?
Computer:
Intel Celeron 433Mz
ATI Traveller 8 MB - VIDEO CARD with no 3D support
Dimond Monster 3D II - 3D video card addon (secondary
video card) connected through PCI port, Voodoo2
compatible.
128 MB + 32 MB RAM
40 GB Western Digital HDD
P.S. The problem is not in the drivers (I used FastVoodoo2
v3.0) because I used these drivers before with no
problems. I think that the installation process damaged
one of Windows components, but I have no idea which one.
I have removed everything about my DM3DII/Voodoo2 video
addon from windows registry, uninstalled all of the
drivers, removed all of the devices (Voodoo2 multimedia
device + 3 nonPnP devices). I'm a newbie to the computers,
but I have no idea why these errors appear and why the
drivers don't get installed.
