I rebooted our only Exchange Server this morning and when it started to load
I got the error:

0x00000078 (0x85EAA030, 0xC0000006, 0x00000000, 0x00000000)
INACCESSIBLE_BOOT_DEVICE

I was rebooting cause I any type to get the exchange backups working
properly. So obviously I have not backups, which is a major problem at this
point!

I searched the MS knowledge base, and done a repair of the install via the
CD-ROM, but this didn't solve the problem. I'm not sure where to go from
here, any help would be great.

One of MS's articles said to scan your computer for viruses. I use Symantec
NAV Corp v7.5. How can I create floppies that will scan an NTFS file
system? Ok I know that question is in the wrong group, but maybe someone
could point me in the right direction. Does Symantec have newsgroups
anywhere?

Any help your can provide would be great!

Thanks,

Andrew Smith

Ok after several reboots the computer decided to properly boot. Obviously I
don't want to reboot, but any ideas what was causing the problem?

I have Symantec NAV v7.5 installed with latest def. However, NAV when it
loads is disabled and when I try to perform a manual scan, it won't do it.

Any suggestions?

Andrew

This almost sounds like hardware. I would reseat all the connections for the
hard drives.

Hi, Andrew.

I'm glad your computer boots now. If you need to research that Stop code
further, take a closer look at the BSOD. INACCESSIBLE_BOOT_DEVICE is
usually Stop 0x7B, not 78. At least, I'VE never seen 78 but I've seen 7B
many times - usually during installation of Win2K Pro using a boot device
(SCSI, RAID, UDMA, etc.) for which drivers were not on the Win2K CD-ROM.
(The fix for that is usually to use the F6 key during setup to install the
proper drivers from a floppy.) But I know nothing about servers, or about
Stop 0x7B except during Setup.

Sorry... it was a typo, yes it's a 0x7B.

I did reseed all the IDE connectors. Which at first didn't fix the problem.
The drive is a WD800JB.

It decided to work after I let it sit for 30mins; I dought it's a heat
problem cause I have the case open and the fan seems to be running smoothly.

Yeah all the 0x7B's that I found were about setup... The server's been up
and running for a while now. Got the error when I rebooted this morning.
