help in my laptop

mina

hi i have toshiba satelite a100 and i want install win2000 on it.
i could install win98 and win xp but i cant install win 2000 on it
and when i try it hangs(it remains on the page that press says enter
for continue) now i have win xp on it but i want format it and
install win 2000 on it could you please help me (it desgined for
windows xp) and can i install xp on it please help me thank you so
much
 
To do a clean install, either boot the Windows 2000 install CD-Rom or setup
disks. The set of four install disks can be created from your Windows 2000
CD-Rom; change to the \bootdisk directory on the CD-Rom and execute
makeboot.exe (from dos) or makebt32.exe (from 32 bit) and follow the
prompts.

When you get to the point, delete the existing NTFS and or other partitions
found. After you delete the partition(s) abort the install, then again
restart the pc booting the CD-Rom or setup disks to avoid unexpected drive
letter assignments with your new install.

Be sure to apply these to your new install before connecting to any network.

but my latop dosnt have any floppy drive now how i can solve my roblem
it hangs in the page that says" please press enter for continue"
please help me i neeed your help thank you so much
 
Best to boot the CD-Rom to start the install process.

hi thank you for your new answer but i think i couldn’t describe
clearly my problrm so i explain it again :
i have toshiba satelite a100 and i want install win2000 on it.
i could install win98 and win xp on it but i cant install win 2000 on
it and when i try to install win 2000 from a bootable cd it hangs(it
remains on the page that says:press enter for continue) now i have
win xp on it but i want format it and install win 2000 on it .i dont
have floppy drive and so i try my bootable cd it is correct in other
computer could you please guide me thank you so much
 
Possibly set the boot order in cmos setup to CD-Rom first in boot sequence.
Also look for the keystroke (if necessary) at POST to force boot from CD-Rom
drive or check your mobo/pc manual for instructions.

hi and thank you but in bios i set first boot from cd-rom and it boots
without any problem but it hang on the massege "press enter to
continue" and so in the manoel there isn’t anything about install
windows 2000 i dont know what i must do please help me
 
Is this before text mode portion of setup starts or during text mode portion
of setup? What happens if you press enter?

hi again and thank you so much for your attention
when i press enter, nothing occure and it looks to hang and remain at
that page and i must turn off the laptop (at the first when i take
bootable cd in cdrom its run wihtout any problem and check hard and
copy files and when it ready for install ,it hangs the page that in
that page it says :please enter to continiue or press f3 to quit and
press r for repair )
could you please help me i am student master and i want win 2000 in my
laptop please help me thank you so much

Do you get a screen showing your hard drive partitions?

no. before the page of "agree to the license? F8 " it hangs because
first i must press enter until in next page i press f8 but befor thist
step it hangs
and also i dont see a screen showing my hard drive partitions becuse
in the previouse page it hangs thank you for attention and im waiting
for your answer
 
Check the Toshiba site for an updated bios. Possibly try resetting cmos
setup back to defaults.

Seems pretty new. Try resetting cmos setup to default.

F2 or ESC at POST then possibly F1 to enter cmos setup.

hi again.i did that work that you said (default bios),but nothing
