Help in Installing Business Contact Manager!

When installing Business Contact Manager - I get to the Startup Wizard which
requests me to either Create or select a database. I choose the create new
radio button. However - every time, I get a message stating that the
operation failed. I have reinstalled BCM, but nothing changes. I also had
to re-install Outlook previously - and cnage my PST. I am not sure if this
has anything to do with my problem... This is a new laptop running XP with
Outlook 2003.

Any ideas? Thanks!

First check that the sqlserver.exe process is running in Task Manager.
 
I checked - and it is not. I also did a search on my computer for
"sqlserver.exe" and found nothing.
 
First check to see whether MSDE is installed by clicking "Start | Control
Panel | Add/Remove Programs" and look for Microsoft SQL Server Desktop Engine
(MICROSOFTSMLBIZ). If you do not see this entry, you should reinstall
Business Contact Manager, refresh the list of programs and then verify that
you see the SQL Desktop Engine entry.
 
Thanks. Yes - it is there. I believe that the Dell phone support might have
removed it from startup though... He removed quite a few "unimportant"
items...
 
OK, next step is to see whether the SQL service is starting up automatically.
In Windows XP, right-click on "My Computer" and select "Manage". Expand
"Services and Applications" then click "Services". Next, right-click on the
MSSQL (MICROSOFTSMLBIZ) service and choose Properties.

Make sure "Startup type" is set to Automatic. If the service is not
running, click the "Start" button". Then click "OK".
