Hi,
I just ran Windows Update and downloaded and installed the latest security
patch.
I let Update reboot my computer....except, when it tried to launch, I get
this error instead:
Windows Product Activation
A problem is preventing Windows from accurately checking
the license for this computer. Error code=0x80090006
It wouldn't let me log onto my user account (this is a single-user computer
running Windows XP Home).
I then told it to restart....and it rebooted successfully into Windows.
Fine...
But now I'm afraid to shut down the machine--afraid it won't reboot again!
What should I do?
I can run System Restore, but I don't really trust it...the last time I did,
it took days to get things back the way they were supposed to be. Can I
simply uninstall the update?
Thanks for any help!
Mickey
