For #2: Run the Network Setup Wizard on each computer. If the Wizard
detects the router's shared Internet connection, tell it to use that
connection. Otherwise, select the connection method "This computer
connects to the Internet through a residential gateway or through
another computer on my network." Don't select the connection method
that says "This computer connects directly to the Internet. The other
computers on my network connect to the Internet through this
computer."

ive tried that for the networking issue and it doesnt seem to work

You're welcome.

I'm sorry, but I don't have enough information about your setup to say
what's wrong.

If you'll post a news group message with more information, someone
should be able to help:

1. Describe exactly what you mean by "it doesn't seem to work". What
are you trying to do? What happens when you do it? If there are any
error messages, give their complete text.

2. Describe what type of Internet connection you have, what networking
equipment you have, and how you've wired everything together.

3. On each computer, right-click the Local Area Connection and click
Status > Support > Details. What does each computer show for IP
Address, Subnet Mask, Default Gateway, DHCP Server, and DNS Servers?

If you've configured your mother's computer to connect to the Internet
through a residential gateway, it should make no difference whether
your computer is turned on or off.

Make sure that the router is wired properly. Your broadband modem (I
assume that you have one, even though you haven't said so and didn't
answer my question #2 completely) should be connected to the router's
WAN (Internet) port. The two computers should be connected to the
router's LAN ports.

Make sure that your mother's computer is successfully connecting to
your wireless network. Make sure that it isn't accidentally
connecting to a neighbor's wireless network.

I'll be glad to continue helping you with this problem if you'll
answer question #3 that I asked above. Please give that information
for your computer's LAN connection and your mother's computer's
wireless connection.
