Suddenly I can no longer open a number of my programs including IE, Malware
Bytes, Ad Aware, and Calyx Point. Also, strangely, I cannot cut and paste
anything anymore. This all literally happened overnight. I've done 3
different virus scans and NOTHING. When trying to run Malware Bytes I
receive an error saying that there is an error with vbalsgrid and that
vbalsgrid06.ocx may be "out of date."

YIKES! I've surfed everywhere looking for answers and am coming up empty.
Can someone help!

This would indicate a "massive" infestation and you should consider
finding a repair centre that could help you.

Well, try system Restore before the black night <G>
Make sure your Date and Time on the System Notification tray set correct,
the error from MBAM refer to unsuccessful updates for the definitions.
Is your Internet connection working < the three light solid green and
blinking as indication for traffic>?
HTH,
nass

If you, or someone who had access to your computer, truly did not make
any changes to hardware or software (and that includes registry
cleaners) then your computer is infected. Show it to a professional.
