HELP! I can view my film in MovieMaker in it's entirety, but when i save it
to my computer or to a dvd the pictures go black in the 22nd minute. The
audio does play the full length (26 minutes). What have i done?

the source file probably needs conversion before importing and using in a
project.... check the Import Movie Source Files > Video section of my
website.

i don't get it. here's exactly what i have done: the initial movie was 23
minutes long with still shots and audio. i have that saved on a dvd and it
plays perfectly in a dvd player. all pictures and audio intact. i added one
picture, two titles, and two video & audio clips to the end of the finished
movie. not only have i lost visual on the new video, but have also lost
visual on the last several pictures of the original movie. ideas?

when you say you added two video & audio clips 'to the end of the finished'
movie.... I don't understand what that means. Did you use a previously saved
Movie Maker project to add the items, and try to save it the same way you
did successfully the first time? If that's the case, website's Problem
Solving > Can't Save a Movie page for issues like not having enough memory
for a successful rendering.

yes, i had saved the movie/project (23:50:93) then went back to add a picture
and two video/audio clips to the end of the 23:50:93. the project went from
23:50:93 to 26:12:53. when i save it to my computer or to a cd, all visual
stops at 22:46:00 and goes to a black screen. the audio continues thru the
end - 26:12:53.

did i mess up trying to add to a completed project? i'm so confused!

you could have reached the point in a project's life that its grown too
complex from the view of the memory needed to render it.... or it could be
that the files added are made with codecs that don't work with Movie Maker.

as a quick check, render the full project to your hard drive, using one of
the Pocket PC choices.... they need less memory. If it fully renders to
that, then it's a memory issue. Rebooting your system to clear up some
memory might be just enough to resolve it.

in general, what is the time and size limitations in moviemaker? this is my
first time to use it and i'm fumbling thru without help. i appreciate your
assistance.

there are no real absolute measures of 'complexity'.... a 30 minute project
with few 10 minute clips and minimal added transitons, effects and title
overlays could be very simple.... and a 5 minute project made of lots of 5
second pictures with transitions between each too complex.

hi def inputs are more complex than regular sized ones....and saving to a
high quality WMV file needs more memory than saving to a Pocket PC choice or
a DV-AVI file.

My website's Problem Solving > Can't Save a Movie page covers how I approach
the topic.

nothing is working to get visual beyond the 22 minute mark.

i have 287 pictures, with a fading transition every five seconds, 60 audio
clips, 4 title overlays, 3 video with audio clips . too much? this is
actually much shorter and less involved than i had planned. is there a
program you would recommend for this type project?

yes... it seems like a good candidate for being too complex to render. Did
you try saving to a Pocket PC choice?
