I just recently had to format my hard driver, and I am slowly trying to get
everything back to normal.
I am not receiving ANY sound. I have checked the wiring and connections,
and they are correct.
I have noticed that there is no icon in the sys tray for volume/sound, so I
feel like something is not correct in the installation.
Can anyone offer any help?? I have tried to follow the trouble-shooting
walk-through, but none of those solutions have helped.

Have you tried installing the sound card manufacturer's
WinXP-specific drivers for the computer's sound card?

If so, the device hasn't been installed properly or has bees mis-identified.
