I am trying to get a group policy set up to restrict our employees from
installing programs and changing wallpapers etc. It works if they
physically go to the server and long on there but not on there workstations.
We are running win2003 set up as the operations master on the domain only
one server with 27 computers. I am begging for any kind of help you can
give. I have very little background with group policies other than a local
on the actual machine. Is there something that I have to change to make it
"pull" the policy to the machine. I have never set one up, or did I mess up
the OU items? tell me what you need to know; or if you have a checklist,
website link or something let me know, and I will send another post, Thank
you

Sorry, I have ran the rsop on my with two results:
1. when I log onto the laptop not the domain, with the pull down options, it
runs fine and loads the local policy.
but...
2. When i log onto the domain both valid computer and user names i get the
error message as follows.
rsop data is invalid, likely causes are the data is corrupt, data had
been deleted or has never been created.

"Invalid Namespace"

Hi Ed,

The following white paper "Group Policy Infrastructure"
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/...BC-D445-4E8F-AA4E-B9C27061F7CA&displaylang=en
describes in detail as how you can go about setting Group Policy in your
domain.

It appears from your description that you may be setting up the local GPO
which is why when you are logging in the server you are seeing the local
policy applied but not on other computers. You need to setup domain
policies.

Please note that do not edit the default domain GPO, create a new GPO, link
it to the domain GPO, and set the new GPO to have precedence over the
default domain GPO.

Thanks
