Copy and paste the original one

That's not the original my documents folder. I need the
one where if I R Click on it I get the target box and can
move it. If I just copy it I get a plain folder.

you need to do the following.

right click on the desktop choose new shortcut.
browse to where your documents folder exist
then click once on it, and say yes or ok, till you get
back to the desktop, voila a new shortcut for mydocuments

copy and paste doesn't give you a shortcut, it copys the
entire my documents folder to your desktop, not what you
want to do, you want a shortcut...

What Adam means is that he deleted the original "My Documents" object on his
desktop...
Simply creating a new shortcut to the My documents folder does not solve his
problem.
The Original object properties includes the option to "Move" ... regular,
plain shortcuts do not display this property.

I recall seeing an option on some advanced tab somewhere controlling whether
the "My Documents" object appears on the desktop... can't remember where...
but Adam needs to know how to turn this back on.

Control Panel > Folder Options > View, check "Show My Docments on the
Desktop".
