I'm running MWXPMCE 2002 Service pack 2 on a Dell Dimension 5150 we have had
it 11 months brand new and never tried to burn anything untill 2/14/07 when
my younger BIL was in town to give me a tutorial. We tried WMC, WMP 10 + 11
and Roxio/Sonic and Winamp and they all will read my cd's and store the music
on the hard drive but to burn I get various versions of the files couldn't be
written to the cd it may be dirty or damaged try a new cd or switch to
another brand.
I am using Brand new CD-Rs. I have dumped the cache, closed all the running
programs, defragged etc every help and hint I could find.
I was on with Dell techs for hours today thinking it happens on all
software has to be a hardware issue the end of that was they want me to do a
PC restore- there fore loosing all my data pics, favs, email etc with no way
of backing it up because the drive won't write. Then if it won't burn or
copy a cd they will replace it under warranty.

Does anyone have any other helps to try before I resort to something so
drastic?

I read on a Jan/30 post it was suggested to spray it out with an air can-
will get one tomorrow and try that.
I have recently upgraded to WMP11, Macaffee upgraded recently as well as
Adobe and recently downloaded a frimware patch...
PLEASE HELP
Thanks so much.

First, are you sure you have a burner and not just a CD player only? If you
have
a burner, go here: Doubleclick the My Computer icon on your desktop. Then,
rightclick your CD-Rom drive>click Properties>Recording tab>check "Enable
CD recording on this Device>Apply>OK out.
