Help! I cannot send email with Verizon/Yahoo

I can receive messages just fine but I cannot send. However, I am not getting
any type of error message. I send the emails and it seems like it is sending
them just fine, but they are not getting to any of their destinations. I
haven't had one email make to where I'm sending it. My SMTP port is 587 like
it supposed to be and I don't have any of the authentication turned on. Any
suggestions?
 
You didn't mention who your email provider is, but most require
authentication with port 587:
Tools, Accounts, select the account, Properties, Servers,
select "My server requires authentication."
However, since you were not getting an error message, that
authentication setting may not be significant.

What happens when you send a message to yourself?
Are the sent messages stuck in the Outbox, or if not, are there
copies of the sent messages in the "Sent Items" folder?
Which antivirus are you using?
