I accidentally erased some registry values using Nero's DriverCleanTool and
now my Roxio Drag to Disk doesn't work anymore. Anyone know how to fix this
problem without having to reinstall Windows XP? I tried removing and
reinstalling both programs.

Drivers:
CDRAL.DLL, CDRALW2K.SYS

and stopped some Services:
service: CDR4_XP
service: CDRALW2K

You are asking about a Windows XP question in a Windows 2000 Registry forum

This article is for Easy CD Creator 4, but not 5:

http://www.plextor.com/english/support/faqs/SW00002.htm

Read what BILL SHANNON has to say half-way down this page:

http://www.tivocommunity.com/tivo-vb/showthread.php?t=220805&page=5&pp=20

Read JW50's reply 1/4 of the way down this page:

http://forum.osnn.net/showthread.php?t=10281

It mentions the MSCONFIG tool which was for Windows 98 & brought back for
XP. You can download it here:

http://www.techadvice.cc/files/s29k2/win-xp/msconfig.exe

According to the RoxioWebsite, you shouldn't have Nero & Easy CD Creator
running on the same machine as they conflict.

The 'CDRALW2K.SYS' error (service registry key) is:

HKLM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class\{4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFCl-087002BEl0318}

Once you uninstalled both applications, go into Program Files & delete their
directories & then open up the registry & delete their registry keys:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Ahead & whatever the key is for Easy CD Creator,
close regedit & reboot.

Try to reinstall only one of them. I suggest Nero 6.3, but not Nero 6.6
because its full of bugs.

Sorry, I don't have any more time to help you right now.

Restore the registry from a recent backup.

Use a Restore Point just prior to the deletion.

Thank you all for the help. Just so you know I've been using Roxio ver.7 and
Nero 6.6 together (without InCD) with no problem until I downloaded the
latest version of Nero Vision Express which gave me problems with NVE which
led to my problems.

Unfortunately I did not back up my registry but I found a symantic registry
backup folder of 13kb but it was empty and checking show hidden files did
not show anything.. I tried system restore but it says no changes have been
made. I will try the uninstall of both programs and try and remove the
registry entries (after backing up my registry) and then reinstall, if that
doesn't work looks like I'll be doing an OS reinstall
aaaaaahhhhhhh!!!!!!!!!!!! That'll probably take another 10yr. off my life,
oh well.

Thanks all again,
Colin
