Hi,

We have a Windows 2000 server with the domain name "mycompany.com" and
our email is hosted by our ISP (external mail). How do I setup our
Win2000 server (DNS record?) so we can retrieve our external email
"pop.mycompany.com" using Outlook.

Right now we cannot retrieve our email at all.. :(

Please help... is there FAQ on how to set this up. I searched the
Microsoft website and I can't find anything??

In your AD-integrated DNS, set up a host record called pop that points to
the public IP of your ISP's mail server...

If your work stations have internet access, all you have to do is configure
them to recive external e-mail like you would a single machine with internet
aceess: that is to add a internet mail account with the entries for servers:
POP3 server (pop.mydomain.com) SPTP server (smtp.mydomain.com) user and
password. Check with your ISP on correct pop3 and smtp server names.

If your pop mail server is named "pop" and its public IP address is 1.2.3.4
and your internal network is 192.168.0.0 (and they are both "mydomain.com",
just add a DNS record for host "pop" pointing to 1.2.3.4 the same way you
would add a dns record for any local host.

Kurt,

Can you be more specific on how to do this? I am not familiar (and
nervous) with adding DNS record on the Win2000 server...
