HI everyone I use MS frontpage to manage and publish my website, and now I
will add another website to my current host on the same hosting account. I
just transferred my 2nd domian, and tried publishing the new website files
using ftp://mydomain.com/2nddomain and also tried
http://www.example.com/otherdomain

files are publishing but not to my new domain, when i type the website, it
says the website cannot be found..i also transferred and added the domain to
the host, so I am not sure how to do this, I mean the files are on my old
website but I want the files to go to my new website and show up when people
go to the new site.

There are generally two ways to set up multiple websites on the same
hosting account:

In both cases, the sites must be allocated different folders - or they will
be terribly mixed up. This is done by the host or the package control
panel.

The two methods are:

1) The second site is a subweb of the first site.

2) Both sites are in separate folders in the hosting account's root folder.

In case 1), the second site is a subweb, and files are published for the
first site are published to http://firstsite.com, and files for the second
site to http://firstsite.com/secondsite (where secondsite is the name of
the folder holding the second web site).
FrontPage extensions (if used) would only be installed on firstsite.com.

In case 2), both sites can have extensions installed. The first site would
be published to http://firstsite.com, and the second to
http://secondsite.com

In both cases the sites would be accessed from the browser by the correct
domain names - http://firstsite.com and http://secondsite.com respectively.

Does this help?

HI thanks for your reply.

I am a bit confused, I am wondering where in my control panel do i add the
folder and what would i name it, i added a sub web and added the name of my
website on a file, but how do i upload files from frontpage to that new
website? there is another file there called public html below is the list
that came up.

mywebsite.com

public_ftp

public_html

tmp

www

where do i put the file with my 2nd website on my control panel so i could
upload the files via frontpage.

I have not used a Unix server. I suggest you ask your host how to set up
the folders.

If you are using a FrontPage subweb, and your package includes FrontPage
extensions, then:

open the first site in FrontPage

create the folder for the subweb - give it a name that represents the new
domain, but DO NOT include any punctuation (such as full stops) in the
name.

right click on the folder and choose "Convert to web" - this creates the
subweb.

Open the new website (on your PC) in FrontPage, and File->Publish to the
subweb. Type in the URL in the form http://www.example.com/subwebname
where example.com is the domain for the FIRST website, and subwebname is
the name of the subweb for the second website.

If you don't have FrontPage extensions, then use an FTP client (such as
Filezilla or SWIFT) to create the folder, and upload the new website to
that folder.

You will still have to use the control panel on your hosting package to
point the new domain name to the subweb folder, and the domain registrar's
control panel to set up the nameservers. For these tasks, look at the
control panel help files, or ask your host.

Hi and thansk for all the help.

anyway I went ahead and contacted the host and they pointed the domain in
the right direction. he said it takes 24 hrs for it to propagate.

and I had also went to add a domain, and added the name without typing the
..com
and i also went to subwebs and added it there too, website name without the
..com

anyway I published the file to
ftp://mydomain.com/anotherdomain

by the way do I have to use the .com at the end of the
ftp://mydomain.com/anotherdomain
