If I have a USB peripheral device that is supposed to run USB-2, How
can I tell if my USB port is actuall running at that speed?

Do I have to load special drivers?

Thanks

No. You cannot upgrade a 1.1 port to 2.0 with software. It's a hardware
issue. RTFM that came with your system or motherboard. If that states they
are 2.0, then you will need to load the appropriate drivers which are
available from the manufacturer's site. If you are running Windows XP, you
will need to be running SP1 or later (I believe for 2000 it's SP3 or later).

Look in Device Manager under USB. If it says "enhanced controller," you
have USB 2.0.

Only if you have the appropriate drivers/service pack. Otherwise they'll be
listed as standard or as having a problem.

And it won't say "enhanced controller" which was my point.
